MSCA's accomplishments are made possible by dedicated volunteers who contribute their time, expertise, and passion through Board service, committee work, and project-based support. Whether you have a few hours to give or are interested in a leadership role, there are many ways to get involved.
What We Accomplish Together

These accomplishments represent the collective work of Board Members and volunteers who contributed ideas, expertise, leadership, and time to strengthen the school counseling profession in Montana.
How the Work Gets Done
Many members are surprised to learn that MSCA is led by a volunteer Board of Directors and supported by committees that carry out much of the association's work.
Whether developing professional learning opportunities, supporting advocacy efforts, reviewing ethics resources, expanding member engagement, or planning the annual conference there are many opportunities to contribute!
Ways to Get Involved
MSCA committees provide opportunities for members to contribute their unique skills, interests, and perspectives while supporting the association's mission.
- Access, Opportunity & Belonging Committee – Focuses on cultural awareness, equitable access, inclusive practices, and advocacy for all students.
- Advocacy Committee – Engage in systems-level thinking, policy awareness, relationship-building, and clear communication, as members help respond to issues affecting the profession, develop advocacy resources related to legislation and policy, and promote understanding of the school counselor's role and impact.
- Conference Committee – Offers opportunities to contribute creativity, organization, event planning, and coordination skills to support MSCA's annual conference.
- Ethics Committee – Supports professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical decision-making, as members help support school counselors by exploring ethical questions and connecting colleagues with relevant resources and guidance.
- Marketing & Technology Committee – Focuses on content creation, communication, website and technology support, and promoting MSCA initiatives.
- Membership Development & Support Committee – Involves outreach, relationship-building, member engagement, and welcoming new members into the association.
- Professional Development Committee – Suited for those who enjoy planning, organization, professional learning, and exploring best practices in school counseling.
To recognize the contributions of our volunteers, committee members who attend at least three committee meetings or contribute a minimum of three hours of committee work during the year receive a discount on registration for the MSCA Annual Conference.
